STEAM spells FUN!
If your child is in Prek3, Prek4, or kindergarten, chances are you have heard all about STEAM. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. This semester, we are learning about different types of animals and their habitats, doing some fun design and building including a simple sewing lesson, science experiments (always a favorite!), working on things that go (ie, rockets, planes, and cars), gardening in the spring, and we will be hatching some chickens in our classroom incubator! (They will join my two pet chickens, Ruthie and Henny). The big excitement this month is our new wind tunnel! We have had so much fun figuring out what is light enough to be moved through the tunnel by the fan, including feathers, balloons, scarves, crepe paper, tissue paper butterflies, and Kleenex!
I love when children bring me “nature items” such was shells, bones, rocks, insects so we can look at them together (I have a really neat handheld microscope for magnification!), so if they want to bring something in, it’s fine by me!
Love,
